Update from the President

Frankie Cocanour

Bargaining:

We will be bargaining with the college this Friday in building 30, room 132, but if you are attending in person first meet in room 135. The bargaining team is hoping to see your faces in person. If you can’t make it in person we are always happy to see you on zoom.

The college sent counter proposals for Article 13 and 17. The bargaining team is meeting tonight after work to go over these articles and compare them to what we already have in the contract and various MOA’s along with our proposals. We don’t want to lose any benefits that our union has already fought for and won.

Your bargaining team, who is on it?

Skye Nguyen

Colin Vurek

Linda Reling

Fiora Starchild

Tami Hill

Kyle Schmidt

Marleena Pearson

Buck Potter

Frankie Cocanour

Denise Brinkman – As Union Historian

Miche Dreiling – AFT Oregon Representative

Mayra Vasquez-Garcia – AFT Oregon Organizer

Everyone on the team whether you see them at the table or on zoom during bargaining has been working very hard going over the contract, pulling data, reading, editing, digging, researching, and even more. They have been putting in a lot of work during bargaining sessions, during our meetings, and on their own time. I have appreciated working with them and I value the skills and knowledge that each team member brings to the table.

Council Appointments:

All positions that I am aware of have been filled. I want to thank everyone that has stepped up to fill all of the positions. I know that everyone already has full plates and it is so wonderful that we have so many people that want and are able  to volunteer. Thank you  to everyone who volunteered!

Bargaining

Friday, October 27, 2023 AT 2:00 pm

We know Friday at 2 pm is not a convenient time for members to join bargaining as an observer in person, but can you spare a break? We are asking members to wear red, take a break, meet in 30/135, and walk in to bargaining together holding signs. This can show management we are paying attention.

Attend in person as an observer in LCC Building 30, Room 121 or online in LCCEFs Zoom https://lanecc.zoom.us/j/99506142128

Members are welcomed to observe via Zoom with your microphones and cameras OFF, please. I will be running a Slack Chat to allow observers to chat with me and I can pass ideas to the team at the table. I will actually be at the table also but also in the chat and the Slack chat to answer questions you may have. Email me your private email address to: colinlccef@ gmail.com so I can add you to the Slack chat. There is also a link below for anyone to RSVP on a Google form. You will find the link for the bargaining meeting below:

Greetings members, bargaining continues tomorrow Friday, October 27, 2023 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm in Building 30. Please see the above announcement for further information. We love to see you all there in-person for the action planned by the CAT.

We want to hear from you! Share your experiences and concerns as an LCC Classified Employee. We’ll use this feedback to best meet your needs with bargaining and strategy.

We are asking for your name and L Number to better analyze the data received.

Please take just a few minutes to fill out the Survey below so we can get it right!

LCCEF CAT Survey

CAT is working on a number of in-person actions at the next bargaining session on Friday, October 27, 2023. It is extremely important that observers use the LCCEF Zoom link and NOT the one that the college sends out! We want to have better control over how members-observers are viewing the session!

CAT meets every Wednesday at 12:00pm to 1:00pm. If you’d like to join and help out with actions, membership drives and be part of something big email me at: colinlccef@gmail.com!

DON’T FORGET TO WEAR RED ON WEDNESDAYS!

Tomorrow, we are bargaining in 30/121 and via Zoom. We ask that any members who are able to join in person for a few minutes at the start of bargaining, maybe part of your lunch or maybe a break, meet in 30/135 to sign in and walk as a group into the bargaining room to show management we are paying attention and its time for a fair contract.

Officer At Large

Katie Neall (2023-2024 Term)

The last few weeks, I have been hard at work doing outreach on campus and by email, touching base with our classified professionals. It has been great being able to connect with you and hear your voice. Each one of you is a valuable part of what keeps our campus rolling. I’m excited to announce that we are currently preparing to facilitate the first round of NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATIONS to happen on Lane’s campus since before the pandemic. We are planning to have the first orientation mid-November. More details to come as the details solidify!

Additionally, I would like to encourage our classified professionals to show up this Friday for our Black C.A.T. action “20 on the 27th.” Bring a friend! Wear red. Put on your best cat ears and/or whiskers if you feel so inclined, grab a sign of support, and show the administration that we expect more!
As always, I want to know how you’re doing! If you know some C3s, let them know that as Officer at Large, I am here to advocate for them and their needs on campus. Email me at katherine.neall@gmail.com
