Update from the President

Testimonials For Bargaining And The Board OF Ed Meeting:

We are still looking for as many classified professionals as possible to read statements at our next bargaining session, then the BOE meeting September 6th. We need people to tell their truths about where they are struggling now in the financial climate that we are in and also how the cut in benefits are going to affect you. The Board of Education has more board members that are pro-labor than we have had in many years. They want to support us, so we need to give them the reasons why they should be supporting us. and they need to hear how you work hard, you deserve a fair wage increase, and how the college cutting benefits are going to affect (hurt) you. Please reach out to myself, Miche or Colin if you would like to volunteer. I know from personal experience that it is hard to do public speaking, but we really need as many people as we can so that we can give them a realistic picture of what the classified professionals are going through. If you are uncomfortable speaking, if you can attend the BOE meeting September 6th at 6:00 pm and hold a sign, that will help so much. We need as many people as we can get to show to the board that we are not accepting what the college is offering us, that we deserve real compensation for the work that we do!! We can do so much when we do it together!!

This will not require anyone to stay for the entire meeting, just long enough to attend. They have not yet posted the agenda for the September 6th meeting, but you can email in a request to speak at the meeting to the email in the link below.

Contracts signed in our area:

4J classified

4J Contract Agreement

SEIU 503

SEIU 503 Contract Agreement

LTD

LTD Contract Agreement

Please read those contracts and let us know if you want to be valued as much as these employees are, then let us know and let the BOE know. We deserve what the other public sector unions in our area are getting. Balancing the budget by taking away our benefits and not giving a raise that will even cover what they are taking away from us is not valuing the Classified Professional on this campus. We are not classified correctly and we are underpaid!

And remember…..

ALL FOR ONE! ONE FOR ALL!!!

Reclassification Deadline:

If you need assistance please contact our VP of Labor. The deadline is October 1st.

Here are the links for the forms that you will need to fill out.

Vice President of Organizing

Colin Vurek (2023-2024 Term)

Greetings members, WOW what a week! The General Membership Meetings yesterday went really well. We discussed the meager fiscal proposal for the Classified Professionals that run this college. It basically amounts to a pay cut for the very people who form the foundation of college operations! Needless to say it’s INSULTING!

The Contract Action Team (CAT) had our first meeting last month and we’ve come up with various ideas to tell the college that we are serious about getting the wages and benefits we all deserve!

CAT meets every Wednesday at 12:00pm to 1:00pm. If you’d like to join and help out with actions, membership drives and be part of something big email me at: colinlccef@gmail.com

We only have 2 Fridays left of the Summer closures! Make the best of them!

Did you hear about the fiscal offer from the College? Are you willing to take a pay cut? Cost of Living in Oregon is increasing, and many other unions are fighting for respect in working conditions and wages. Its time to increase our visibility as a union, increase the awareness of our issues with students and the Board of Education, and increase our power by getting more members. This is going to be a very important fall.

Membership Officer

Skye Nguyen (2022-2023 Term)

Finally, if anyone ever wants to chat about how they can get involved with the union just tag me! 🙂

If there are any questions about membership or someone has interest in joining, they can reach out to me (membership@lccef.org) or fill out the online membership form!
