Appointments To Councils:
It’s that time of year where we need to make appointments to councils. If you are a union appointee to a council and would like to continue with your work please let me know so that I can reappoint you. If you are interested in a committee or council and would like a union appointment, please let me know. Here is the list that I have where we need appointments made.
Diversity Council – 2 appointments
Infrastructure Council – 3 appointments
Student Success – 3 appointments
Bargaining:
We are still working diligently getting articles ready to turn over to the college. There has been a lot of work done. We are trying to finish all of the articles that are not tied to anything fiscal. Some of the work is going through the contract trying to find where there are duplications in the current contract and MOAS, and working it into one article of the contract. We have people that have really spent time digging through weeds to get this done. We will be meeting with the college next Tuesday June 27th at 11:00 am. We really do appreciate all of our members who have taken the time to join via zoom and interact on our Slack channel.

Spring term is the busiest time of year for me, and this seemed three times as bad! I am ready for this summer schedule.
Seems like the College is counting on that… waiting until faculty and students are primarily off to pass as many changes as possible. Our bargaining is still nuts and bolts, but bracing us for budget cuts before we get to the fiscal is not a great sign. Are you ready to stand our ground this summer?
Membership Officer
Skye Nguyen (2022-2023 Term)
We are moving into summer and we have many internal bargaining work sessions. I am seeing great work from our team! Keep up to date by joining the bargaining session with the college every other Tuesday.
Finally, if anyone ever wants to chat about how they can get involved with the union just tag me! 🙂
If there are any questions about membership or someone has interest in joining, they can reach out to me (membership@lccef.org) or fill out the online membership form!
Your Benefit Info of the Week
Did you know that members get some really useful benefits? This week we are highlighting pet insurance for your furry family. It’s always a scary thing to think about your pet getting ill. Pet insurance could give you some peace of mind so you can focus on your pet if they are ill and not on the unexpected expenses.
Find out what other benefits you are qualified for as union members by going to AFT.org.
Resources you may need!

It is time to drop the Wellness Center and focus on the contract for the majority of your members who don’t work at the Wellness Center. The board has already decided its fate and are going to close it or turn it over to an outside organization.
We are giving plenty of focus on contract bargaining. I’m sure if it were your department on the chopping block, you be interested in help by us letting the membership know what was being proposed.
