Section 125 Bargaining:
We will be bargaining with the college again tomorrow Wednesday at 2:00 pm. You can attend, it is via zoom. Please remember to stay muted. Please see the VP of Organizing post below in the newsletter for more information on attending. I’m hoping that we can get it wrapped up tomorrow.
AFT Member Benefits:
Frequently there are many of us that don’t think about union membership as a retiree and what benefits Don’t forget that there are benefits that we can get as union members. I haven’t used all of the benefits, but I have used a few. Sometimes they can really help you to save. I have had a couple friends in our union use them for traveling and they have saved money. Follow the link to see if there is anything you can use right now to save money.
Dues update:
This is a reminder to our members, when you reach your annual maximum of $900, you will no longer see the union dues deduction on your paychecks. Your dues deduction will restart with the 1/10/2023 paycheck. If you have any questions please reach out with an email to LCCEF@lanecc.edu.

Section 125 Bargaining Meeting
Today LCCEF is meeting with the College to bargain the Section 125 adjustments made due to IRS rules and requirements.
Today at 2:00 pm you can join us, make sure you are meeting the standards to attend by being on personal time or listening while working if that meets the standards for your department.
Attendees will need to remain muted and should not make comments in the chat.

Grievance Officer

Currently we are preparing to file a grievance for violation of article 12.7.2 in correlation with encouraging individuals to file internal LCC complaints.

We are working on pay equality with the college which includes eliminating levels under level 6 as we cannot find classified staff to fill positions at a wage lower than $15.12 an hour. Link to salary schedule below.

Membership Officer
Skye Nguyen (2022-2023 Term)
I am Skye Nguyen and I am taking the role of membership officer. I am from the Academic Technology department working as a part of the ATC in assisting instructors and employees with technical issues surrounding Moodle and other applications. I originally started as a student worker in 2015 when I was a student at Lane and have moved into my current role of ATC support with a few extra roles. I am now a Graduate student at OSU eCampus. For fun, I play volleyball and do bouldering. I am looking forward to serving as membership officer of LCCEF!

Enjoy meeting with fellow unions in the county? Learning about what events, organizing, and partnerships are being offered throughout Lane County? Anyone appointed to this position would continue to serve the remaining one year of term in 2023.

This is another vacant position that is up for election this fall, anyone appointed would serve through the end of the year, so its a great way to try out the role! Are you a part- time time-sheet employee who is looking to be more involved and help LCCEF build part-time power to increase benefits and working conditions for fellow part-timers?
