LCCEF is back in bargaining with the College! We want to share with you where the LCCEF Bargaining Team is with our two-year Economic Reopener for FY 2021/22 and 2022/23.
The College has sent their opening offer to the LCCEF Bargaining Team. They have offered a full step increase in each of the next two years and a cost of living adjustment (COLA) of 2% this year and 2.5% next year. As their “plus one” topic they want those employees whose jobs are funded by external sources to have their seniority calculated the same way as those in grant-funded positions. (Please see the offer in PDF format at the bottom of this post.)
We are currently working on our counteroffer, and hope to have our first bargaining meeting in the next seven to ten days. To ensure our counteroffer best represents the interests of classified employees, we’ve created a quick survey to gather a bit more information. Please take a few moments to rank potential “plus one” items and make your voice heard!

Please look for more information and a Zoom link to our first bargaining meeting, and we look forward to seeing you in the bargaining room.
One Voice, In Solidarity.
Many of us have been at top step for many years. Are additional steps being added or is there going to be a bonus for those of us who have been at the top as in past years?
Hi Crystal,
We know this is a concern of many employees and we are working hard for all of you. This just the first proposal we have received from the College and we wanted to keep everyone informed. Know that there is still much discussion and bargaining to take place before we reach any decisions. Sorry for the vague response but we can’t discuss any specifics of our counter proposals before submitting them to the College. I hope you join us at our bargaining sessions (we will send out invites) so you can show the College you support your bargaining team and you can see the process in real-time. We will also post updates as each step of bargaining occurs so you can stay informed and give us feedback.
Thanks for your support!

Hi,
This comment is just for our classified members to have clarification that this proposal is the first step in the start of bargaining. The classified union has not turned our proposal to the college administration yet. We are setting up the first bargaining meeting to set up ground rules for bargaining meetings, then we will be turning in our counter proposal. We are not sharing what we re putting on our counter proposal so that nothing is leaked back to the college administration.
Please use the comments to tell us what is important to you. Understand that we may or may not have already put anything that you have suggested into our proposal already. And going forward we may add or remove something based on what our members are asking for. We are listening to everyone, everyone’s ideas are so helpful and we really need to hear them.
We also encourage everyone that can listen in to the bargaining meetings to do so. The college has requested that our members use either their lunches or to use vacation/personal/flex time if you are joining the meeting. If there is a way to listen in that will not impact your work in any way discuss that with your manager. The only people that will be talking during the meetings will be the LCCEF bargaining team and the administration bargaining team. Everyone else will be muted. This will be a great time to wear your shirt/mask and to hang up good signing behind you. You can even use a picture of yourself in your shirt/mask or our union’s logo.
Personally I am excited about the emails that I have received from our members and the excitement that everyone has shown to me. I want to encourage everyone to join the CAT team even if you have limited hours in which to assist. There is so much work to do and the more people that we have to help will mean the less time commitment that each member will need to make.
Can anyone help me understand what this all means for part-time classified staff? Sometimes the language of the proposal makes me think us part-timers are ineligible for things. Thank you in advance.
