Message from our former President Pat Griffin

“LCCEF leadership will be changing next Monday, December 3. I have accepted a position as the Software Services Manager in our IT department. In the last couple of years, college leadership hired multiple consultants to review the IT department. Each of these consultants recommended that the college hire a manager for the programming team. One of the big reasons I like my job here at Lane is because Bill Schuetz is such a supportive and empowering boss. To keep him as my boss I needed to apply for the management position over my current team.

I have enjoyed getting to know many of you and appreciate all of the support and help you have given me. Robin Geyer will take over as president and we will let you know who the new VP will be once the team has decided. Most of you have known Robin for much longer than you have known me. She will do a great job as President and I encourage you to give her your support.

Pat Griffin
Former President, LCCEF”

We will miss Pat in his role as President.  He worked hard for all our members and was a valuable part of the LCCEF Leadership Team.  We wish him well in his new Management position and believe he will do good things for the college moving forward.

In accordance with the LCCEF Constitution the current Officers will meet to approve filling the vacant office of the Vice President.  As in the past, the current officers have the option to move into a vacant position and/or a member in good standing can fill a vacant position. If you have an interest in serving in an officer role please email lccef@lanecc.edu.  The Executive Council will meet on December 6, 2018, 12:00-1:00pm, in 16/211, to decide on changes in officers and we will announce those decision in the next weekly communication.

Article IV Officers,
Section 5, Appointments to Vacant Office
Unless otherwise specified, vacancies in any office during the current term, shall be
filled by Presidential appointment with Executive Council approval.

Hard Copy Classified Contracts

HR began distributing paper copies of the classified contract last week. This is the contract ratified in 2016 and extends for 7 years until 2023.  It has been available electronically through the HR website and at lccef.org but we decided to send it to print to ensure everyone has easy access to the contract. Printed copies went out to full time classified employees last week. The next round will be sent to hourly classified employees. Please be patient while HR works through the classified employee list.  If you do not receive a copy of the contract in the next 30 days, and would like one, please contact communications@lccef.org.

Employee Giving Campaign ends 12/7/2018

Participation is up for Classified Staff!  Way to go! If you haven’t already, please consider giving.  It doesn’t have to be a lot to make a big impact. You can choose a regular deduction from your payroll or a one time flat donation.  There are numerous ways an employee can direct their gift. You can choose to give to the Egan Warming Center, a service at the college such as the Employee Wellness Program, or to a specific scholarship to benefit students.  You can also direct your giving to specific causes and even something like a department’s employee excellence fund to be used within your department. If you don’t like paper, you can make your gift online at https://www.lanecc.edu/foundation/employee-campaign

ULP Pre-Hearing Agreement

We settled a ULP (Unfair Labor Practice) through a pre-hearing agreement.  Please see details here.  Again, we apologize for any misunderstanding or confusion that may have occurred by our choice to allow Lisa Rupp to be listed as in hiatus status from her COPE Chair position while simultaneously filling the Interim Public Safety Management role.

Classified Workload Survey

We had ~42 surveys filled out and turned in.  Thank you to those who took time out to help us help you.  We will not be able to post the results of this survey as the vast majority of those submitting asked to remain anonymous, but we will tabulate the results and post what we can.

Budget Development Subcommittee (BDS) of College Council

And Last But Not Least

We would like to move away from using the Classified Staff email address through Groupwise for these weekly communications updates.  Just go to lccef.org and look to the right side of the home page.  You’ll see something that looks like the image.  So far, 90 have signed up!  If you have tried, but did not receive a confirmation email, please let me know at communications@lccef.org.
