We have come to the end of Spring Term and there have been a lot of activities happening.
The college budget cycle was formally completed at the last Board of Education meeting on June 7th. The budget adoption comes with some changes for several classified employees. The Workforce Center is closing on June 30th and the four employees assigned to the center are being reassigned to other positions in the college. There are two employees in the Lane Family Connections that are losing their job funding by a restructure of funding that we received to serve parent populations in Douglas County.
There is a 20% reduction in the time sheet classified budget; but it is not completely known yet what that really means. Does that mean that each time sheet employee loses 20% of their hours or will there be 20% less employees by headcount? We are not sure. I think we will learn more about what the impact really is after we enter the new fiscal year on July 1st.
Academic and Student Affairs Restructuring
In addition to the budget adoption, Academic and Student Affairs is rolling out their restructuring plan. We have been meeting with all of the classified staff that serve Counseling, Advising, Testing, Enrollment and Student Financial Services, Multicultural Center, Women’s Program and ASLCC. Many classified staff members are being assigned to a different supervisor, some are getting new assignments, but most classified will be performing the same duties. This is the biggest restructuring since the deployment of Student’s First! We will be tracking work assignments for classification matching and any possible working out of classification issues.
