The college and the union bargaining teams met today at 3:00 p.m. where the college accepted the union’s supposal dated May 31st. The supposal was set to sunset at 5:00 p.m., but with the college acceptance, we turned the supposal into a proposal. In short, we have reached a Tentative Agreement!
This Tentative Agreement is for the one-year contract re-opener for July 1st, 2017 to June 30th, 2018.
The bargaining teams had agreed in a previous session to bargain only for a one-year re-opener.
The vote on this Tentative Agreement will end on June 28th. More details from the Elections Committee will be sent out soon.
The college open enrollment sessions for insurance will continue. The initial deadline for the college sessions was June 16th, but we asked for an extension to June 23rd, which was granted. The extension will allow members to weigh the insurance options against the total compensation package in the Tentative Agreement.
If you have already submitted an open enrollment form, you will now have until June 23rd to rescind and resubmit a new form or submit a new form. If you are not making any change in your insurance selections, you do not need to submit an insurance form.
The updated wage schedules reflecting the wage schedule adjustment will be available in the next couple of days. Once we review the wage schedules with Human Resources, we will post the changes on the LCCEF website.
There are three General Membership Meetings scheduled for Thursday, June 8th at noon (LCC19 243) and again on Thursday, June 22nd at 5:15 p.m. (LCC04 106) to answer questions about the Tentative Agreement. There will be an additional meeting at the Downtown Campus Academic on June 15th at noon (DCA 125).

The Board of Education had set their bargaining parameter for this year for classified at $829,300. The bargaining team had initially submitted a supposal that was in the $1.1 million range. We weighed the option of forcing a larger increase in the bargaining parameter OR meet the bargaining parameter with our needs in how the funds are distributed. We opted for the latter and submitted the supposal that was accepted today. We achieved a larger increase on the wage schedule than we have in many bargaining cycles. The cost of our supposal that turned into today’s Tentative Agreement is $830,496.
Tentative Agreement Details:
